Special Events near Our B&B in Gettysburg

The Irish in Gettysburg (March 14, 2020)Join Licensed Battlefield Guide Deb Novotny as we explore the path of the Irish soldiers on the battlefield. Meet at 1pm at the Father Corby statue (close to the PA monument) and will drive to several other locations as Deb tells the story. At 6:30pm, we will meet at the Dobbin House restaurant on Steinwehr Avenue for dinner and a program based on stories of the Irish soldiers during the Civil War. Entrée choices: Salmon, Prime Rib, or Hunter-Style Chicken (breast with tomatoes, mushrooms and brown sauce); $55 for adults; $40 for children ages 10 and under. (Presented every year, usually on the third weekend of March).

President Lincoln Comes to Town (April 6, 2020)

The Inns of the Gettysburg Area invite you to join us on Saturday, April 6, 2019, for a celebration of Abraham Lincoln and his time in Gettysburg. Meet at the National Cemetery at 1 PM for a walk with a Licensed Battlefield Guide as he tells the story of how the cemetery came to be and the visit paid by President Lincoln on November 19, 1863 when he delivered one of the most famous speeches in American history. At 6:30 pm, we will meet at the Dobbin House for dinner with the President (Lincoln) himself, followed by reminiscences from the President. $55 for adults; $40 for children ages 10 and under. Entrée choices: Salmon, Prime Rib, or Hunter-Style Chicken (breast with tomatoes, mushrooms and brown sauce). $55 for adults; $40 for children ages 10 and under. (Presented every year on the first weekend of April).

Remembrance Weekend

On the weekend closest to the anniversary of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, the famous speech that he gave on November 19, 1863. We have a magnificent parade of re-enactors, both Union and Confederate, through the town on the Sunday, and a ceremony in the National Soldiers Cemetery, with speeches by dignitaries. The parade comes down Baltimore Street past the Brickhouse Inn, so we have a grandstand view.

Among winter events are Irish Weekend, commemorating the Irish Brigade at Gettysburg; Lincoln Weekend, when you can dine with ‘President Lincoln’, and Chamberlain Weekend, when you can follow the heroics of Joshua Chamberlain at Little Round Top.
