The Welty
House
The historic Welty House
is only about eight yards from the Victorian inn (the two
buildings were once owned by the same family). It was built in
about 1830 and was occupied by Confederate sharpshooters at the
end of the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg. The South wall
bears many scars made by Union bullets fired from Cemetery Hill.
The house now has six guest
rooms: three on the first floor (Delaware, Alabama & Texas)
and three on the second floor (Georgia, Kentucky, &
Illinois).
